Looking back through old monthly newsletters, I stumbled upon last year's wellness challenge. I thought that it would be fun to create another wellness challenge for this summer. Both the wellness team and the communications team, who spearheaded the wellness challenges in the past, felt that they were too busy to create a full-scale challenge. We also created a survey for the monthly newsletter, asking staff if they would be interested.

I created this wellness bingo using Canva.

"Acimo" is short for "Acimostatowin" which translates to "news told to one another". Each month, the communications team in the Alberta Region sends out a monthly newsletter with updates for Indigenous Services Canada employees within the region. One of my first tasks was to give suggestions on how to improve Acimo and also support with the writing. Pertinent topics include National Indigenous Peoples Day, #Indigenousreads and Calls to Action. As with most content that goes out internally, the newsletter had to be approved each month by the Regional Director General and the Regional Executive Officer.

At the discovery of 750 unmarked graves in Cowessess First Nations, I was asked to create a cumulative list of mental health resources that any Indigenous people in Alberta can call to get support.

Within the regional communications team, one of our team members handles the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch ("FNIHB") communications. With my previous work in addictions and harm reduction, I asked to work a bit on projects on this side of the department.

The FNIHB team plays a consulting role, meaning that we support with ideas and recommendations, but we don't execute any of the recommendations. Based on a couple of meetings with the communications team at the treatment centre, we suggested three different audiences to target and included considerations, messaging and potential products that the communications team could create.
