My Must-Have Beauty Products for Spring
It’s currently snowing while I write this, but the calendar says that it’s spring so SMH, I’m going for it.
While I don’t think it’s crucial to change up your beauty routine every season, there are some products that definitely scream spring! Here are the products that I love for the spring season.
Before Makeup Essentials
Sunscreen baby
Sunscreen is a year-round thing but as the weather gets warmer and we’re outside more, it’s a must-add to your routine! My favourite is the SuperGoop Unseen Sunscreen. It goes on clear and doesn’t show up under makeup. It also smells slightly like the beach and that gives me a boost of serotonin. SuperGoop also has the Glow Screen. I haven’t tried this one but it’s supposed to be a brightening version of the Unseen Sunscreen. Both of them have SPF 40 so you’re good to go. Remember to apply sunscreen as the last step of your morning skincare routine so that it has the best chance of working.
Makeup Time
Primer/Foundation
I don’t wear foundation and I usually use my skincare routine for primer BUT when it comes to the spring, we have to pull the Glossier Futuredew into the mix. The Futuredew is an oil serum hybrid that gives you a beautiful “model-off-duty” look. It’s a thicker serum so it gives you that glow but still the moisture that you need for the transition from winter to spring. In terms of foundation, I would go with the Milk Makeup Sunshine Skin Tint. It’s super light and easy to apply. It gives some light coverage and it’s clean at Sephora!
Brows baby Brows
Personally, I don’t change up my brow routine throughout the different seasons so I don’t have a lot of tips for spring. However, a lot of YouTubers that I watch are transitioning to slightly lighter and more feathery brows for the springtime. So, when in doubt go down a shade and brush up those brows! I love the Glossier Boy Brow in clear for the feathery look and the ELF Instant Lift Brow Pencil (I use a natural brown year-round)- it’s so cheap.
The best part of the makeup routine: EYESHADOW
The best part about the changing seasons is the chance to break out the pastel, pretty, springy eyeshadow looks. I do wear darker eyeshadow during the spring and summer but I love to play around with pastels and lighter eyeshadow looks when it gets warmer. I have a few recommendations so stay with me here.
First up: Colourpop palettes. I love Colourpop and they definitely have the palettes that you need for spring. The one that I think is best for spring is the Garden Variety palette. I love the peachy tones with the fun glitter shades!
Next up: I just got the Venus III palette from Lime Crime in my Boxy Charm palette (you’ll see it in this week’s video). The shades in this palette are the perfect springy pinks. The glitter shades are perfect for those sunny rays.
Last up: The Nikki Tutorials x Beauty Bay palette. This palette is super versatile, no matter the season. The light side of the palette has the perfect spring neon shades, while the dark side is great for the fall and winter seasons or smoking out the lash line.
Liner and Mascara
One of the things that is calling my name this spring is coloured liner! I’m stoked to try out a ton of different liner looks with different colours. Right now, I’m experimenting but I love the Colourpop BFF Liquid Liners and the NYX Epic Wear and Vivid Brights liners. As for mascara, I love a lighter look for the spring so I 100% recommend the Glossier Lash Slick mascara.
Finishing off the base
Y’all know that I never stray from my concealer, with the odd exception. So, I can’t recommend anything other than the Sephora Bright Futures Concealer or the ELF Hydrating Camo Concealer.
When it comes to the warmer months, I’m here for all of the cream products. I rarely wear bronzer and don’t use a cream bronzer, but I will recommend either the Nudestix Blush and Bronze or the Wander Beauty On-the-Glow Bronzer. I’ve heard really good things about those products.
For cream blush, there are so many different formulas, brands, and colours to choose from. The ones that I will be wearing the most going into the spring are the Wander Beauty Double Date Lip & Cheek Tint in the shade Suite Talker and the Glossier Cloud Paints (I love the shade Beam). Some honourable mentions include the Tower28 Magic Hour blushes and the Kaja Cheeky Stamp blushes.
As for highlight, I definitely want to try more cream highlighters this spring. I’ve heard really good things about the Ilia Clean Illuminators. I do love the one liquid highlighter that I have, which is the Glow Milk from The Beauty Crop. This is super easy to apply and gives such a great glow (plus look how cute that packaging is!)
Lips 💋
I’m here for glossy, low-maintenance lips this spring. Honestly, with masks, I’m not sure how many of us are actually still wearing lip products under masks, but when I’m just at home, I would choose a gloss over a liquid lip any day. My favourite glosses are the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bombs and the Quo Beauty Lip Oil. The Quo Beauty lip oil is less sticky and hydrates the lips, while the Gloss Bombs give a big shine and gloss to the lips.
Finishing it all off
I love to finish off my makeup with a setting spray that refreshes my face and gives some life back to my skin. My all-time favourite setting spray is the Fix+ from Mac. If you find yourself getting sweaty during the day and want to lock in your makeup, try the Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray. Lately, I’ve been using the Maven Beauty Rose Water Setting Spray that came in my Boxy Charm box, but it is only available at Fashion Nova, so I won’t be repurchasing.
