Thank you, 2019
Well, here we are, the end of another year. The end of a decade! This decade had so much to hold. As someone born in 1999, I experienced some of the most influential parts of my life in these past 10 years. I graduated junior high, and high school, started university, got my first job, had my first kiss, and tried a ton of new things. I’m doing a lot of reflecting as this decade comes to an end, but I wanted to recap my 2019. I really enjoyed doing this last year and I think it’s nice to have a consolidated recap to look back on in the future.
Dealing with Overwhelm in a Digital World
I was recently at an event where one of the women ( @shelbybreanne_ on Instagram) said, “I sometimes say that I came out of the womb an activist”. These words really resonated with me because I’ve always felt that there was something that I needed to speak out against or stand up for, but I never knew what or how to narrow that down.
Fuelling my Coffee Addiction in San Diego
If you know me, you know that one of my favourite things to do is go to a coffee shop. I’m all about grabbing a coffee while I do work, chat, and catch-up with friends or just take in the atmosphere of the coffee shop. Of course, I love Calgary’s coffee shop scene, but when I travel, my favourite thing to do is check out the coffee scene there. San Diego was no different.
Book Review: The Sun is Also a Star
Alright, so today’s review is The Sun is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon. If you feel like you’ve heard that title a lot recently, you probably have. The movie adaptation just released in theatres. It was on sale at Chapters for $10 so I scooped it up right away.
The Woman I was Named After
Today is International Women’s Day.
Remember those who set the stage for the life we live now and thank them.
Book Review: Modern Romance
The first book on my list for 2019 was Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari. My friends Leah and Bridie wanted to educate me on online dating and being single so they lent me this book and I was not disappointed. Let’s just jump into the review.
Thank you, 2018
With the year coming to an end, there have been lots of questions. What was 2018? Was it long? Was it short? Did the winter Olympics actually happen this year? (Answer: yes). Did I change? Was it hell? Was it happiness?

Book Review: Beautiful Boy
This memoir is written by David Sheff, a journalist who’s son, his beautiful boy, becomes addicted to Meth. This rollercoaster read is not for the faint of heart, and I finished it last night so I am finally out of its clutches.
5 Must-Have Supplies for College Students
It’s my first week back at school, so naturally, I needed to make another school-related blog post. Today I want to talk about my 5 top supplies that every student should have going into college. Obviously, this can be dependent on your area of study. I’m a Communications student and I’ve taken arts classes in the past so my exact supplies would be different than a science student. Still, I think these are cross-curriculum supplies. I’ll also link the ones that I have.
